My blog experience

This is my final post for this lab something that is very sad for me, because I loved the experience of writing about different topics in this semester.

I started my blog experience a long time a go, but for my English class this started since my prior subject this year.

What can I say? Is just amazing, since I started to write for this lab my fluency, grammar and my wording get better so much, something that is not just wonderful is really useful for all my English experience in my life.

Writing in a blog in other language subject, which is not our principal language, is a really good way to learn about it in so many aspects:

First of all to be able to express an idea and write about it, you have to know a minimum of vocabulary to this, and when you’re doing a post of two hundred words you’re forced to search for some words that you don’t know. It is like from this way you expand your vocabulary in the end you finish by handling more English than at beginning.

The second advantage is the incredible way that you’re wording get better lately. Doing post every week makes you really practice your English and not just copy and paste. Post after post you learn about your own mistakes, making better post every time and improving your wording even when you don’t notice it.

And finally this assignment makes you started to thinking in English, something very necessary not just to handle the language, also for know really this language. It is with this act when you familiarize with all this strange words and their crazy grammar. All these makes everything seems so much clear, finding the real significance of all these things and you can meet the English.

I don’t know if writing in a blog had disadvantages, because I can not found it even when I thought about it so much time (well not really just a few minutes), but how we can had disadvantages of using blogs for this class?. That idea doesn’t fit in my crazy mind.

Well, writing in this blog for my English IV class is one of my best experiences with this language, making that I will never forget all that I learned writing, correcting and with Crystal’s help (thanks for tried to understand all the crazy things that floating in my mind)

The worst movie ever!!!!

The last week I went to the cinema with my friend Lautaro. That day was my time to choose the movie, and because I love the horror movies I chose "Mirrors". The cast of the movie is really unknown for us, except for the main character Kiefer Sutherland, who is star of the successful TV series 24 and Amy Smart who is the girl from "The butterfly effect" film.

"Mirrors" is the story of Ben Carson an ex-cop who started to work as night guard of a colossal building that in past was a successful store that was consumed by a mysterious fire. Everything was all right until some weird things started to happen in the building. Ben discovered that strange images are reflected in the huge store's mirrors. At the beginning he thinks that the images are product of the stress for a horrible past experience in his life (he accidentally killed a uncovered agent), but all this change when he started to heard some whispers calling a last name "Esseker" and he accepted that something really strange is happen there. The mirrors were possessed for an evil spirit which is looking for Anna Esseker the girl who was possessed for it in her childhood. In this searching for Anna the mirrors attacked the relatives of the night guards and now the Ben's family and he try to find a solution for this threatens.

I really don't know if that awful movie have good points, because is a disaster.
First at all is too fantastic in every aspect, the end is not the common end of a horror movie is more like an action movie and in some moments you feel like if you are watching the bad version of "The exorcist". The special effects are so bad that a cartoon movie is better done.

The next time I'll be faithful to my likes and I'll go to see an alternative film.

My dear Josh !

Since the English 3 I love Josh, but not in the romantic way I really like him English. He is a great English speaker, knowing a lot of vocabulary and important things about grammar. All that things make me chose him like my favourite English blogger.

Josh have a similar point of view about so many things, making that when I’m reading him posts I forget which one made it.

I like the way that he take common things of the ordinary life, and convert it in an interesting thing to comment about it. Like when he chose Wikipedia like him most visited webpage, is something so ordinary in our lifes, but he took it and talked about it like no one have made it ever.

He have a special sense of humor that is amazing!. Is a really great quality can laugh about ourselves like to the other people without troubles. This is something very valuable in the 21st century’s people, which is so stress for the chaotic life, and don’t have enough time to relax and enjoy a little of simple things that we live daily.

I wish him hadn’t include so commentary because their post are too extensive, and sometimes you finish bored of read all that preach.

My favourite post is the last one “Monumental art pieces”. I love art since I was little and I chose the art to express my feelings, and I learnt to paint. When I saw him post I fascinated with the land art. I haven’t seen something like that in my entire life, surprising me a lot for the beauty of this.

Surrealism in the 21st century!

Shana & Robert Parkeharrison

When the awful reality keeps our minds erased, a little escape for this appears like sunshine in the morning.

Since the last year that I’m hypnotized with these two photographers, they are Robert and Shana Parkeharrison a marriage which is dedicate to bring us all this fantastic oneiric world of the surrealism that we lost with the globalization.

The photography is made by a mixture of resources that make it different to the other photographs. It uses just one color the sepia tone, which gives this old touch lost with the digital photographs, also it build images of a devastated world and the men fight and their machines against this. But the most important is the oneiric world and the remembrance of a weird dream, imperfect, isolated and mechanic.

Suspension

I love all their photographs, but I have my favorite and it title is “Suspension” a photomontage from the exhibition “The Architect's Brother”. Is very special for me, I don’t why I feel really touched for the message or what I think that they try to transmit with it.

Since I was little I have a infatuation with the clouds, I think is for it relation with dream, definitely I’m a dreamer like said John Lennon in Imagine, letting all the time to my mind visit the entire universe and let it imaging all kind of things.

Suspension is inviting to us to catch a cloud and start to dream, dreaming in this square world where everything is controlled for the money and the science, but maybe if we try a little this would be different and our imagine can give us other vision of this sad world and bring us a beautiful new world cramped of our dreams and everything that we thought lost in the time.

An awful new

When you think that you live in a sick sad world and nothing can be worst, this new surprise you and make you think about what the hell are we thinking to do these horrible things.

In Peru in a town called Canete, the townsfolk realize The “Gastronomical Festival of the Cat”, a particular festival where eats cats for two days, arguing about the good properties of the kitten’s meat to cure bronchial disease. Also they say that it meat is a great aphrodisiac (how can say that?).

Peruvians prepare and feed these kittens for these day, which takes place in the end of September, in the Saint Iphigenia (poor kittens). Those day they eat cat hamburgers and fried cats legs and tails (awful).

Obviously this generates the ire of the animal rights groups like PETA. Is so horrible the quantity of animals massacre for this kind of belief, that is unnecessary adding more violence and rights violation. They can’t understand the Peruvian belief and are going to try to finish with this terrible festival.

I’m really disconcerted with this terrible festival, I love animals and specially kittens I can’t imagine how someone can pass this idea on it him mind. Something more effective than comment this new in a little space in a not very prestigious newspaper, the entire world should be warning about these kind of awful things that happened when we’re worry about stupid things like fashion and showbusiness, trying to save a life (in this case a kitten’s life) is so much important and would help to have a more harmonious world.

The other side of my world

My world is so crazy, I live like in other dimesion cramped of words and sounds which make that I lost my mind for complete. A special place in this world is busy for the philosophy, since a I was a little girl this captives me and caught my attention. One day and thanks to my dear friend Alexia I met this aluccinating webpage called "Los Arrabales de Macondo", a blog that it comments about some issues related with philosophy, actuallity and interesting things that it happens in our sick sad world. From that day something changed in my life, it sounds so exaggerated but is true, I'm a arrabalesholic and every day I visit that page to read everything that the bloggers publish in it.

This particular blog mixs the irony, sarcasm and the truth to say interesting things, is so funny and also is cultural, I've learnt a lot of some issues and that's amazing 'cause I spend a good time reading it.

English IV

Crystal's Lab (:

An uncertain future !

What do I see myself doing in ten years? Uff is a difficult question in this moment of my life. I always thought that my future would be studying something related with politic and my mayor have to be public management or political science like I always want to study, but I was wrong now everything is very confused to me and I don’t know what to do with my life. I think that maybe the sociology would be everything that I was looking or, but I don’t know really.Something that I’m sure is that I want a family; in ten years I will be 28 a mature age to get married and have children. I love children and I wanna have so many like I can. Family is really important to me, 'cause my parents are divorced and I know what is means need the support of your parents and don't have it.

Perhaps my future is a little uncertain but the only one that I want in it is love and comprehension, with this I would be able to do everything that I’d propose.

LGE an injustice!

When I visited your blog and i saw our next assignment I started to think over in this important problematic of our days.
The LGE is an injustice law, which let that our education remains a business. In a country like Chile the education should be the most important tool to the progress and to finish with the poverty and for that the education should be equal for all, and obviously free. But thanks to the precious capitalism everything is a potential business and the education is that. A boy that don't have enough money to paid a better college have to resigned with the aweful public education and that made a huge difference of the potential and the future opportunities of that person. Stop laws like that is our mission, and is in our hands the future of our children. Maybe protesting and taking over buildings is not the best way to express our thougths, but is the only way that we have to be heard and try to change something in our unfair world. This only takes a month of our life, but the injustice are everlasting and this would make more damage that a couple days of mobilizations.

(8) Cause Music is power, its easing your soul (8)

Music, music and music, how important is this little thing to our life!
In my special case i love music, i can't live without it. Music more than music is a part of me like my hands and my feet, every letter and every rhythm express something of me; a feeling, a thougth a sensation...everything.
I have to recognize that a listen all kind of different type of music, but i heard it depending of my mood.
When i'm happy i listen songs with positive messages, usually pop or alternative music like Miranda!, Ladytron, Benni Bennassi, Primal Scream, etc.
In my sad deays or when i have blues i listen melancholic songs, usually british music like Radiohead, Oasis, Placebo or Travis.
And when i'm angry i listen metal music, is my dark past. Usually Nightwish, Epica, Anathema or The Gathering are the soundtrack of my daily routine.
When you see my music folders a spontaneous laugh born, 'cause i have a huge mix of styles, i have since Erasure, passing for Artic Monkeys and electronic tango until Weichafe.
Uff but this is for my special need of have a song of everything, a need a soundtrack for my life, for every situation, for every moment, for every second. Music is like another personage in the story of my life, and like Richard Ashcroft said let the melody flow, all night, all night.

A little of me!

My entire name is María Cristina Alcántara Vidal, a really long name for a tiny girl like me. I'm 18 years old and i'm study Public Management in the Goverment School of the University of Chile. I'm a crazy girl who love be very spontaneous, thing that don't like so much, but i don't mind because i'm happy being like that. This is my second blog (the first one is like my diary), and when told me that in the english assignment we were going to do a blog i love the idea. I think that write in blogs is a really good therapy, also we are going to practice our grammar something that is really great. In this activity we're going to learn a lot of new vocabulary and that would help us to express better our ideas, feelings and points of view.
