When you think that you live in a sick sad world and nothing can be worst, this new surprise you and make you think about what the hell are we thinking to do these horrible things.
In Peru in a town called Canete, the townsfolk realize The “Gastronomical Festival of the Cat”, a particular festival where eats cats for two days, arguing about the good properties of the kitten’s meat to cure bronchial disease. Also they say that it meat is a great aphrodisiac (how can say that?).
Peruvians prepare and feed these kittens for these day, which takes place in the end of September, in the Saint Iphigenia (poor kittens). Those day they eat cat hamburgers and fried cats legs and tails (awful).
Obviously this generates the ire of the animal rights groups like PETA. Is so horrible the quantity of animals massacre for this kind of belief, that is unnecessary adding more violence and rights violation. They can’t understand the Peruvian belief and are going to try to finish with this terrible festival.
I’m really disconcerted with this terrible festival, I love animals and specially kittens I can’t imagine how someone can pass this idea on it him mind. Something more effective than comment this new in a little space in a not very prestigious newspaper, the entire world should be warning about these kind of awful things that happened when we’re worry about stupid things like fashion and showbusiness, trying to save a life (in this case a kitten’s life) is so much important and would help to have a more harmonious world.

Wow, I'm also disconcerted and shocked…
I love animals too and when I think on this people killing and then eating animals I feel sick. I can believe that people massacre and kill wild and domestic animals just because they consider they can get strongest or get better if they eat them.
It is like when people kill gorillas or elephants to sell there skin and fangs to get a profit…
I consider that it is really sad because we live with animals, we feed them, we take care of them… and then we eat them? I think it is very contradictory and we should think twice in what we are doing.
That it´s really an awful new. Some times a have troubles to undestand this can of behavior. It´s like the massacre of whales by the japanese, so irrational and cruel!
It´s strange to think that still in the 21nd century people have that kind of beliefs.
it is horrible, but I am not surprised, I really am a little accustomed to this kind of behavior.
Just think in Chinese or Japanese, they eat dogs, snakes and whales or in vietnam where they eat the bodies of the bears when they are still alive. This happens because they do not see anything wrong with these actions as we do not see anything wrong with eating cows and pigs. At very end are just cultural patterns.
I've been a vegetarian for 5 years, because I believe that with a good diet you can replace meat. Most people do not agree with me, as I do not agree with them or you with the Peruvian people.
Who is right?
It is unbelievable these things are happening on 21th century, when we know about the advantages of gain knowledge from the animal kingdom, and the conciseness about the respect of the different life forms.
This situation could be observed in our country, when we see how the persons torture the cows at “rodeo” (that it would be illegal like the chicken fights or the dog fights), also I have a group in facebook (created by me) against the “rodeo” called: let’s hate rodeo.
Well, this post seems to have generated a lot of excitement. Is this truly a national practice, or something specific to a particular region of Peru (Canete)? I, too, really love cats, but if you aren't a vegetarian, how is this practice so different from eating chicken or beef?
